Would DPOS (Delegated Proof of Stake ) based blockchains deal with some of the issues you’ve highlighted? They incur zero fees, have transaction completion times of about 3 seconds and consume far less power than competitive POW (Prood of Work) blockchains since DPOS block production is collaborative. Current examples of DPOS blockchains include STEEM and BitShares. STEEM powers platforms like Utopian.io and soon to be released SMT (Smart Media Tokens).

I would appreciate your comments on DPOS blockchains. Thank you for your detailed and illuminating post!
